Not Quite the End... Just a Change

QITM will no longer be a selling group on Ebay as of February 1st. Many of us have been fortunate enough to "leave the nest" provided so wonderfully by Ebay for several years. We have grown and moved on to different projects and find that keeping up with the demands of being a group has become too difficult. Some of our sellers will be remaining on Ebay, while several of us can be found on Etsy and Facebook:

Hi, everyone! I wanted to announce that QITM is looking for a few new designers. If you are interested in joining, please send me an eBay message.

A little about our group:

QITM [Quality in the Making] Design Team recently celebrated our two year anniversary. We specialize in handmade papercrafted items. We are a close-knit group and are hoping to add 3 more members. QITM does have a few qualifications we require from candidates.

A few of the qualification requirements are:
- Feedback score of at least 20, with at least 10 feedbacks in scrapbook/card/altered item/paper piecing.
- Feedback rating of at least 98%
- Must list at least 3 scrapbook/card/altered item/paper piecing listings each month.
- Must post in the group area at least once a week.

Upon acceptance, there is still a 30 day trial period so we can see how well the fit with the group.

Wow.... fall is THISCLOSE to being here and many of us in QITM are working hard to make projects for our busiest time of year. Make sure you are typing QITM in your ebay searches to see our listings. If you are finding that our listings are a little "thin" right now, it's because many of us are successfully branching out beyond ebay with local clients, crafts shows, and selling via our own websites.

Our very own Suzanne (bandit) has started her own website with all sorts of goodies in her store. We're all thrilled that she has taken this step. We all dream of breaking the chains (of Ebay) and being more in control of our selling and she has taken that step. I hope everyone takes the time to visit her shop (bookmark it!!!). Hi everyone! We've re-listed the First Annual QITM Charity Auction Basket. We had a non-paying buyer the last time around. There is so many fantastic things in the basket, I urge everyone out there in the blog-o-sphere to check it out. Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating but we had some nice weather in the northeast this weekend so it gave me inspiration to really get to work on some great Easter items.

QITM is happy to announce the group collaboration beginning January 1st! We will be having our KIT KLUB launch.

Many of us will be participating in this. We hope to make many kits that will allow you to do your own layouts and paper piecings. Kits will vary and will have different themes so please search QITM starting January 1st to see all the kits we have to offer.

Hello everyone! Hope you're having a fantastic Holiday Season. I'm super excited to host a contest here at the QITM blog. Get your scraps together because starting January 1st you can submit up to 2 of your own handcrafted items. The members of QITM are very excited to be starting up a new challenge which will be announced on January 1st also.

You can submit scrapbook pages, handmade cards, chipboard albums, etc. Any handmade paper crafted items. Up for grabs is a great goodie bucket I put together. I'll post a picture of the prize once the contest starts, but I can guarantee it will be great.

We recently had a little discussion about our favorite brands and here is what we came up with:

Jeunegirlcrafts: For me, it's Daisy D's. I am just in love with their shabby chic look. Their entire line blends together seamlessly and I find myself being able to work with them more easily than any other brand. I'm also a big fan of Imaginisce.

Craftinpea: Oh gosh, that's a hard question, lol. I have to say it is either Basic Gray or American Crafts. Basic Gray in my opinion is very artsy and edgy, which sometimes fits my mood. But American Crafts is so clean and pretty I just love to use it.

Scrappingjoni: I really love it all, but Bo Bunny and Heidi Grace are 2 of my favorites. If I see a print and it calls out to me, I buy it. I truly prefer the double sided in any brand.

megans_paper_studio: I love American Crafts with their great color combos & heavy double sided papers. Also love Paper Salon, Creative Imaginations, My Mind's Eye, Heidi Grace, SEI & Basic Grey. Sometimes don't love Basic Grey if it's too distressed or vintage florals. Don't like the anique look very well. I like papers that jump out at me & beg to be paper pieced! Love using several matching prints in one layout so any line that goes wild with the combos I'm all over it! -Megan

scrappin-up-design-studio: I love Heidi Grace, she does an amazing JOB! So creative, not to mention... she gets horribly car sick just like me! (Thought I'd send a funny there). But I do love her stuff, I love the paper studio, die cuts with a view and anything that looks pretty, and love the combos too! If I can find 5 coordinating papers, I'm in heaven!

Meet Meg: JeuneGirlCrafts

As the "keeper of the blog" for QITM I have decided to step from behind the curtain and into the spotlight for this brief post.
I have been scrapbooking all my life... even before it was called "scrapbooking" but I really started getting into it before my oldest daughter was born in 2003. Back then, it was a hobby and a way for me to chronicle my child's life. Back then, too, all of my supplies had to be dragged out to the dining room table and then put away when I was done. In 2005, we moved to a house where I was able to devote a room to my hobby which quickly turned into my passion. I decided to "go pro" when my supplies outnumbered their usefulness in this lifetime. Now it seems that I do more work for others than I do for my own family.
Scrapbooking came naturally to me. I have a BA in History as well as teacher's certification so scrapbooking allows me to put my degree to work even though I haven't technically used my degree in about 8 years.
Now, my days are spent with my 2 daughters and dabbling in all sorts of crafts (where they LOVE to help me out) and spending time with my husband of almost 9 years.

We are all "gearing up" for our upcoming challenges. The SUMMER BLOWOUT starts in July and we are all cleaning out our scrapping boxes.....There will be lots of neat items for sale, and you will not want to miss it. I am certain that the pieces: layouts, altered items, mats, paper piecings will go for a great prices........So be sure to check with us often to see what all we have for sale.

Another great challenge is the Christmas In July.........I am so excited about this because I love to make things for Christmas. I know several members are busy working on their layouts and paper piecings,....and some very unique items that can be used as gifts to fill that Christmas list we all have. SO....ladies, mark you calendar and get ready to shop with QITM!!

We have a member who makes the neatest "dew drops".....she is bandit210...If you have not seen these, you will want to go to our site QITM and check them out. There are so many uses for these little things, I just can't tell you how neat they are.

Coming This Summer!

In just one month we'll be starting our "Christmas in July" challenge where we will be starting the Christmas rush (heck, the malls practically start decorating at that time too so we might as well!). Mark your calendars to shop early for some Christmas goodies!

As mentioned before we're also having a Summer Blowout special where we'll all be cleaning out our scrap closets and giving great deals on layouts, supplies, mats, tear bears, ETC! This sale will run the entire month of July!

Finally, in August we're having our first Collaboration Challenge. Participating designers have been paired up and challenged to come up with unique designs using work made by their assigned partner! Styles collide!!! I can't wait for this one!

I live in Clinton, Mississippi where I was an English and Reading teacher of 8th graders for 14 years. I became ill and had to retire, so I am now a scrapper....I started scrapping for my two grandchildren. One day my daughter said we should sell our items on Ebay. So we began doing just that. After her baby was older, she went to work full time and that left just me. I love to scrap, you could say I am almost addicted to it. My husband is great, he does not mind if I scrap all day, and there are days that I do just that!! My favorite thing to scrap are albums.....I REALLY enjoy the holiday items, I am really getting geared up for the "Christmas In July" challenge.

I love being a member of QITM, have made many friends and love to work with them as a group. Please look at my current listings.

This is my week to host the blog and I just wanted to say hello and Happy Hump Day. Can't wait 'til the weekend. Saturday I'll have a TON of new items for sale, so check out my store ;)

Meet the Founder!

Meet Jen! QITM's Founder. Her blog question is: How did you decide to form an Ebay design team?

QITM or Quality in the Making design team, came to me, as all of my ideas do at 3 am;)LOL Earlier in the week, I was contacting some of the already made teams on ebay, but was turned down, because I was new and didn't have much experience in selling, since it had been years since I sold items on ebay. As I sat in bed, I thought I wonder if there are other sellers like me that are just starting out and just to chat with other friends about selling, scrapbooking, and life. So I typed in the categories that I would normally sell my own items under and started to contact other sellers about joining this new design team I made. I started to get emails back from sellers; some maybes, some no's, but a couple yes's. I was so excited, I had ran a group on myspace for 4 years and made all of the group logos and layouts myself, so I figured that it wouldn't be much different. Some members have come and go and for that I thank them for the chance and the friendships, but a lot of the members are still there after 7 months. The group is growing and flourishing into a great positive direct and for that I am proud of the members and myself for taking the chance and meeting some incredible people!

Challenges!

We just finished up our successful "Sweet Summer Treats" challenge where we all came up with our own version of fun treats to enjoy. The challenge was great and it really motivated us to continue coming up with fun things to do as a group.

We just found out we're going to be doing a Summer Blowout sale starting July 1st! We're cleaning out our scrap rooms to make way for the holiday rush so we'll be listing items that we had previously listed that didn't sell and using up supplies that have been sitting around for a while. It's a great opportunity for a bargain!

We're also beginning to work on collaborations. We are paired up with another team member and together, produce one item for sale that features the creativity of 2 designers! Should be very interesting. This challenge is beginning in a few weeks too.

Summer Plans for the Group

We asked the group to tell us about their plans for the summer and most of them have centered around.... you guessed it.... gas prices!

Many of us are amending our plans and staying closer to home. Here are some responses by the ladies:

Meg (Jeune Girl Crafts): We plan to take the girls to a water park this summer and take them to their very first game at Yankee Stadium. The family will be going to 2 games in this, the last season of Yankee Stadium.

Elecia (Kahaulani): no real big plans except that my parents will be here to visit for 2 weeks and my daughter is graduating from high school.hopefully we'll be able to squeeze in a camping trip but other than that,that's my summer high lights..besides work,work,work!!!

Sheryl (Lockeinjax)I'm going to Cozumel, Mexico for a family reunion. We are staying at an all inclusive resort and I'm really looking forward to the relaxing time before my surgery in July.

Renee (forjakeriley) We are going to the beach for a long weekend. And later on in the summer my hubby and I are going to go to Hot August nights in Reno no little guy .

Linda (scrappinwmn) I usually go to Wyoming and Montana to see my husbands family, but we are not going this year because of gas prices. We are having his family from florida in two weeks, so we will be doing the entertaining.

Jaimie (scrappinchickadee) I'm going slightly up north this summer to Traverse City from the 4th of July thru the 13th. I usually go to the Keeweenaw Peninsula during the summer, but gas prices are WAY too high right now. I'll be making that trek in September/October.

Even with all of these plans the ladies are still going to be hard at work with challenges as well as our regular listings, blogs, and crafts for our local clients.

We have another challenge is the making.......a collaboration of members of the group, where we share items to make our our pages or albums. It should be fun. That challenge will be in June.

First I'd like to say Happy National Scrapbooking Day to everyone out there. I spent the morning shopping for new items, lol.

Second, I'd like to give a very warm welcome to our newest members of QITM, Stephanie [manbra66], Gabbi [gandtdesigns], Cher [oneofakindpages], and Donna [ladybugexpressions]. They are all very talented and have some wonderful items.

Next, I would like to announce the QITM Summer Sweet Treat Challenge. Starting May 17th, search Summer Sweet Treat on EBay to see the wonderful items we have for sale! There will be a wide array of delicious scrapbook and paper crafts.

Finally, I wanted to post the replies from our design team to these three questions:

1. Do you find that you tend to gravitate towards masculine/feminine looks? If so which one, and why do you think so?

2. What color group do you find that dominates your piecse?

3. What is your favorite paper collection? [For example, Two Scoops by BasicGrey]

1. I have 2 daughters so I have TONS of girly stuff. But I do really like the colors that the boy supplies are coming out with!

2. Brown. I love Brown... it's the new black! I also like very earthy tones

3. I like the baby collection by Crate Paper and the Wild Asparagus line by MME.

1. FEMININE for sure the pinker or the girly the better. I scrapbook for my little girl. So that is why when I sell albums or pages, I always try to do boy stuff so I don't get emotional attached to the piece and want it

2. For myself I scrap it seems ALWAYS in pink, green and cream. Then Lavender, green and cream. I just love those color combos. I have adventured to Pink, brown or black. I don't know if I will ever get into the oranges or yellowsLOL

3. I LOVE Bo Bunny and MOD paper. I love girly girl stuff!!!

1. I am always headed towards girly, but I am working hard at bringing boy themed and colored layouts to my store! I have a daughter so I am use to girly!

2. Red, Black, & Yellow! I love those three colors, which probably comes from my oppession with Mickey Mouse. I also really like Black and Pink!

3. I love DCWV paper a lot!

1. I tend to do more girly stuff cause there's more to use as far as embellishments but I try to do both,right now girl stuff is selling better!!!

2. I try to use different colors but tend to gravitate towards the natural and pastel colors or I like mixing the browns,pinks and light greens

3. I don't really have a favorite but basic gray,MME,daisy d's is up there.

Here are some questions that I've asked the QITM members;

#1-how do you organize your scrap paper and do you keep everything or only if it's bigger than a 3X5???

#2-your favorite thing to scrap/create?

#1-I have it organized by size (small, medium, & large) within that I divide each size into solids and patterns. I keep EVERYTHING!
#2-I don't have a favorite. I think I would be too bored doing one thing all the time.
#3-Crate Paper, Chatterbox, 7 Gypsies, Daisy D's.

#1....I keep all my left-overs .....i keep them in a bin all together....i go through it often and sometimes just take the same sized pieces and use them up....like make a lot of flowers, then store those in an envelope....I am like Meg, I KEEP EVERYTHING!!!
#2. I have gotten into making chipboard albums and I love doing that. I also like to make tear bears...the favorite holidays are Easter, Halloween and Christmas
#3. I LIKE THEM ALL!!!

#1-I have a drawer dedicated to scraps. Anything larger than 1-2 inches is saved. It can be good for anything, punches, etc.
#2-I like to make 12x12 pages and cards. I think pages are my favorite of the two because there is more "canvas" to work with.
#3-That's a tough one. It would be between Basic Grey, American Crafts, MME, or Prima.

#1-I end up keeping everything,even the tiniest of scrap paper and I have them sorted by colors in plastic 8X10 "colored" envelopes
#2-it would have to be bears and 4X6 paper pieces and greeting cards

JeuneGirlCrafts: definitely my hot glue gun!! My "old reliable" even gave out on me 2 days ago and I had to buy a new one. My Cricut Expressions is worth its weight in gold.

scrappinwmn: my crop-a-dile....i love it

beecreative2: My Cricut is that considered a tool? If not that then my exacto knife. I use it for everything, picking up small diecuts, trimming small pieces, holding down small pieces when gluing.

scrappersdelight00: I LOVE my fiskars fine tipped non stick scissors!!! If I didn't have those and some double sided tape, I would probably quit LOL

My First Blog!

Welcome to our site! My name is Renee aka forjakeriley! This is my first time ever blogging so bear with me. I am fairly new to this very talented group QITM. I was honored when they asked me to join.

I have been scrapbooking for quite a few years. I have been selling on ebay now for about 3 1/2 years and I love it! I sell a variety of paper piecings. Most of my pieces are very unique. I make 3D piecings out of my photos that I have taken. It is something different and unique for your pages. Scrapbooking Tips and Tricks

Hello,

I would like to start a post for *Scrap booking Tips and Tricks* that members of the QITM group will be more than happy to share with everyone!! whether it's organizing or creating scrapbook pages,pieces or altered crafts- anything will be helpful!

POP DOTS-to add 3-D effects to your scrapbook pages,cards,paper pieces,tags and altered items.
you can make your own by buying a sheet of foam sheet from craft stores(aisle) cut them in squares or use a hole puncher,use glue-works just as good as the store bought ones.but a lot less in cost!!!

SEWING TIPS-use clear thread for the bottom bobbin so you don't have to change colors every time you change your colored thread

does PATTERN PAPER really get out dated???-add glitter glue to outline certain designs,or puffy paint of the same color scheme and add prima flowers :)

STAPLES-there are endless uses for a stapler these days and now they come in colors!! (from CK mag)

use them to add(photos) corners to your photos
attach a tag
connect letters
add design to your layout or flowers(embellishments)
create letters
it's uses are endless

STENCILS-use them to create your own clip art,cut shapes out of felt or foam to create 3D embellishments,deco with embellishements (like gems,puffy paint,buttons)

DECO SCISSORS-I know you have one!LOL create faux ric-rac for borders,use them to round off corners(on tags,mats or cards)

VELLUM-create your own flowers,cut them out in different sizes,layer and curl the edges(for dimension) chalk or ink the edges for color

PAW hole PUNCHES-use for eyes and nose for tear bears,they work great!!!

BUTTONS- draw your own shapes or letters with a sharpie(color sharpies) pens on the back side of the button to create a whole "NEW" look
